New Pier on 4th of July

July 10th, 2009

PCBdaily.com has been covering the new pier and the family got to take a first hand look this weekend. As the 6th house just to the west of the Pier, within yards of the new Pier Park (now boasting more signature stores and restaurants than ever), Sea Ease is just too close. Family members couldn’t resist taking a walk down the new structure.

Comments from the family on the opening of the pier were extremely positive. The pier is wider and larger than the old pier. It feels like a boardwalk, with wooden surfacing on both sides of the concrete center. The lights are much nicer at night than the old pier. It’s a whole different atmosphere. It costs a couple of dollars a head for a walking pass, and $10 for a fishing pass, so it’s more expensive, but the family verdict: It’s worth it. It’s a much nicer experience than before, and you get what you pay for.

The fireworks display launched from the pier was, reportedly, spectacular!

I leave you with an interesting article with a video of the area from prior to the 4th.

Where did you spend your fourth of July? I wish I was at the beach with the family. I was a little jealous that they were at Sea Ease without me!

Buzz fills the news about new toll road to PCB

May 5th, 2008

A new toll road stretching from Montgomery, AL to the new Panama City airport, just north of Sea Ease is creating buzz throughout the North Florida community.  Most recently, according to a Panama City News-Herald article, an economic development group out of Destin called Florida’s Great Northwest has voiced its support for the toll-road. Rightly so. Another artery to the gulf means better evacuation in hurricane season. It means easier travel. It means commerce.

Speaking of which, it turns out small business owners in Graceville and other towns along the toll road corridor are also jazzed, as seen in this article from Panama City’s WTVY News, Channel 4.

At Sea Ease, we’re very excited to hear of this news, so that we can get to the beach even faster. Don’t forget – this path to the beach can be your path. This house can be your house. But wherever your house is, we hope you’re having a safe Cinco de Mayo.

Early summer will bring *even more* to Pier Park

March 26th, 2008

Sea Ease is a short walk away from even more retail, grocery, and eatery destinations as Pier Park gets set to open another phase.

The beach doesn’t just have to be about sitting on the deck, lounging on the beach, or soaking up the surf, anymore.

If you get tired of the same old same old — if you don’t want to fire up the grill or the stove and cook or if you are daunted by the inconvenience of trekking down the beach to Captain Anderson’s for dinner, (though it is really nice down there), there is so much to choose from in Pier Park, and even more coming up.

Of course, if you are grilling or cooking, the new Fresh Market that’s about to open in Pier Park will help you make a new level of beach treats for friends and family.

See more about the new Pier Park phase at pcbdaily.com’s blog.

For reference, here’s The total list of restaurants in pier park, also courtesy of the fine pcbdaily.com blog.

These are extremely exciting times for old Lullwater Beach. Come and get a peice of the action!

Bay county airport relocation will make travel to Sea Ease even easier

March 19th, 2008

The current Panama City Beach “Bay County International Airport” is a 13.8 mile, 30 minute drive from Sea Ease, east on US Highway 98, over the Hathaway bridge, and through downtown Panama City.  The trip to the current airport, which includes several traffic lights, is generally regarded as a hassle.

The new airport will be located a similar mileage from Sea Ease (possibly slightly fewer, but a far easier and direct trip) up Florida Highway 79, almost due north.

Please reference this panama City & Bay county area map, which includes the locations of the proposed new airport and the old Bay County Airport. On this Map, Sea Ease is located approximately where the square marker for “Panama City Beach” is.  Maximize your browser to maximize the map.

The official web site for the airport relocation is http://pcairport.pbsjis.com/.

The new airport will open in early 2010.

New Pier in Progress

March 19th, 2008

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Dan Russell City Pier took place early this month, according to the Panama City News Herald. The original structure was the longest pier on the Florida Panhandle, extending some 1600 feet from the shore. Reportedly, the new structure will be 1500 feet, still the longest pier on the panhandle.

Dan Russell City Pier is approximately 1/4 mile from Sea Ease to the east, for the best pier fishing in the gulf.

Further pictures of the Pier Demolition can be found at Half Hitch Tackle, the Pier’s tackle shop, which will also be getting a newly constructed shop when the project is complete. The base URL for Half Hitch Tackle is www.halfhitch.com.
